Buying A Property was no Less Than a Nightmare

About a year ago, I changed jobs and moved to Edinburgh, leaving my family back in Loch Ness. In the beginning, I was not sure I could live alone, away from my family, for the first time. I rented a small apartment for a month because I wanted to be sure of my job first, then planned to call my family. After I felt that the place was good and the job felt secure, I decided to call my wife and kids. My apartment was too small to accommodate 4 people . So I decided to buy a house close to my work. Within a week, I bought a property, and the very next day, my wife and kids also arrived there.

I felt a sense of relief when I saw my family. Everything felt under control. We began shopping for our new house. Everyone was excited, and kids were sharing ideas for how they would decorate their rooms. After all the shopping, we went to our new house and started decorating and setting up furniture. When we were assembling things, my wife noticed that the kitchen cabinets were not closing properly. I thought it was a minor issue and I would fix it later. We were so tired and thought that, little by little, we would build our house.

About 2 weeks passed, and our house was almost ready. One night, torrential rain exposed a leak in the roof that had gone unnoticed. I panicked a bit, checked the roof properly, and found one more leak in my bedroom. When I looked closely, I noticed that the leak was old and had just been temporarily fixed. A thought suddenly struck me that I had not really checked the house properly before buying. Suddenly, I remembered that when I came in to have a look at the property, I asked them about the matting in the living room. They said it would be removed before I moved in, but it was still there. I started pulling the corners of the mat and saw that the wooden flooring of the living room was badly damaged. I decided to call the former owners of the house, but they did not answer.

I had no other option than to fix it because I had nowhere else to live, plus I had responsibility for my kids and wife. But by then, I had realised that this house was going to test my patience. As the time passed by, every 1or 2 weeks, new problems arrived. Sometimes water leakage, kitchen drawers and cabinets either not closing or get stuck,Termite problem,  Mold or mildew growth.

We were looking to have a peaceful life and a new beginning in a new place, but this was a nightmare for us . We were all  so done with the house and decided that we would sell this place and buy a new one, and this time I would not take things into my hands but would take help from an Estate agency. As I was new to Edinburgh, I had no idea which agency I should go with. I asked my colleagues at work . They all named different agencies, but about 4 of them named Umega.I decided to do a little research about them and read about them on the net. The reviews seemed quite good and I decided to contact them. I explained the situation and they showed genuine concern, after listening to my problems they said I don’t need to worry anymore . They asked me about my budget and requirements for a new house and said they would contact me as soon as they find any suitable options. Within a week, they contacted me and said they had listed 3 properties and  asked me to visit the place with them. My wife and I went to check all 3 of them. To be honest, all three properties were good, but one of them truly stood out to me. It had a small garden, a park nearby for children, was situated in a great locality, and offered an excellent location. I instantly fell in love with it and could easily picture it becoming my home, and this time, we checked every corner of the house, but to our surprise, the agency we were working with had already checked every minor detail; they made sure that we didn't face any issues. We decided that we would go with the house and asked about how we should proceed with  the paperwork. They asked us to give them important documents, and after that, they literally managed every bit of it themselves.

I was really overjoyed by the fact that, after so many hardships, at least something went right,  from the very beginning to the end; they made sure we were not bothered a lot. Before my move-in date, they ensured that the property was deep-cleaned and underwent pest control treatment. After having a horrible experience in the past, I was relieved that this time I made the right decision to work with an estate agency.

This not only helped me find the perfect house but also helped me save my time and money as they provided the best rates. My family was also really happy with the new place, and my kids said to me now this feels more like home.
